Overview

The University of Newcastle has initiated Ph.D scholarship for a research study on Estimating the Topology of Low-Dimensional Data Using Deep Neural Networks. 

Project Description:

This project will expand on the superhuman visual capabilities of deep neural networks to allow us to analyse the topology of 3- and 4-dimensional manifolds. The aim of this project is to achieve a better understanding of these spaces and a computationally efficient approach that can be used for their analysis in real-world applications.

Eligibility criteria for the PhD Scholarship Estimating the Topology of Low-Dimensional Data:

  • Applicants from all nationalities are eligible.
  • Applicants must enroll in the specified PhD program of study at the university.
  • Applicants must demonstrate excellent  academic achievements.
  • Applicants must  have satisfied all of the requirements for admission to the degree of Bachelor with Honours Class 1 or Honours Class II, Division 1 or any other degree approved for this purpose by the Assistant Dean (Research Training).
  • Applicants must demonstarte English Language Requirements.

Value of the PhD Scholarship Estimating the Topology of Low-Dimensional Data:

Successful applicants of the PhD Scholarship Estimating the Topology of Low-Dimensional Data will receive $28,092 per annum (2020 rate) indexed annually.

  • For a PhD candidate, the living allowance scholarship is for 3.5 years and the tuition fee scholarship is for four years. Scholarships also include up to $1,500 relocation allowance and Overseas Student Health Cover at single rate, for an international candidate.
