NN Danilow Scholarships in Modern European Languages 2023

Thanks to a bequest from Ariadne Danilow, this scholarship has been established at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington. Vienna-born Mrs. Danilow, a well-known Wellington piano instructor with a keen interest in European languages and literature, especially German and Russian poetry, was the late Dr. N.N. Danilow, Professor of Russian, and her husband. The University's Russian and German schools arranged meetings of the Tolstoy Society, the Goethe Society, and the German Literacy Society, which she eagerly attended every time.

Eligibility for NN Danilow Scholarships in Modern European Languages:

• Only citizens or Permanent Residents of New Zealand may apply.
• Every year, two scholarships will be given to the best-performing 300-level students in French, German, Spanish, or Italian who plan to enroll in one of the aforementioned courses at the honors level the following year; or, alternatively, to the best-performing students in these subjects who are enrolled in their honors year and plan to enroll in a master's program for one of the aforementioned courses the following year.

Application Process:

• On the closing date, an online application must be completed and submitted by 430 p.m. Applications that arrive late or are not complete will not be accepted. To be considered, the application must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date along with any necessary supporting documentation (including references).
