Mātātoa Sport Scholarship for Current Students at Victoria University of Wellington
The Mātātoa Sport Scholarship supports student athletes to excel in both sport and academics while maintaining a healthy balance between study, training, and wellbeing. It is open to athletes from all disciplines currently enrolled at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
Eligibility Criteria of Mātātoa Sport Scholarship for Current Students:
- Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or Permanent Residents, enrolled or intending to enrol full-time in an undergraduate programme at Te Herenga Waka, with a minimum GPA of B+ (6).
- Applicants must be age-group regional and/or national representatives in their chosen sport.
Selection Criteria:
- Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or Permanent Residents of at least two years’ standing, and enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree at Victoria University of Wellington.
- Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, sporting achievement, equity, and commitment to completing a tertiary qualification.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: NZD 5,000.
Note:
- Scholarships are valued at NZD 5,000 and awarded as a stipend.
- Recipients are expected to be active in the Student Athlete Network, a member of a Victoria University of Wellington sport club, and available to represent the University at UTSNZ events (exemptions may be granted).
