The Manuel Gelman Award for Teaching Excellence recognizes a student in the Master of Teaching (Secondary) who excels in teaching languages and takes into account the attainments of the candidate as a teacher, academic achievements in the Languages Learning Area, and financial need.

Eligibility for the Manuel Gelman Award for Teaching Excellence (Languages):

  • Applicants must be enrolled in the Master of Teaching (Secondary) at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education in the language learning area.
  • Applicants must fulfill the admission requirements set by the university. 

Selection Criteria:

  • Eligible applicants will be assessed on the grounds of academic merit and financial disadvantage
  • Academic merit will take into account the Languages Learning Area subjects and the Clinical Teaching Practice subjects
  • The results of the Student Financial Assessment Form will determine financial disadvantage.

Value: A single cash payment of up to $5,000.
