The Kevin Smith Memorial Scholarship, funded by the Friends of Taputeranga Marine Reserve Charitable Trust, was established to honour Kevin Smith’s contributions to New Zealand’s conservation efforts and the creation of the Taputeranga Marine Reserve. It supports students conducting research or thesis studies related to the Marine Reserve at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.

Eligibility Criteria of Kevin Smith Memorial Scholarship:

Applicants must:

Be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD programme at Victoria University of Wellington
Be undertaking research or a thesis related to the Taputeranga Marine Reserve and its environmental, social, or economic impacts
Demonstrate academic merit
Submit a personal statement and a reference.
