JSPS Short-Term Pre/Post-doctoral Fellowships in Japan are open to pre and post-doctoral researchers who wish to conduct cooperative research with leading research groups at Japanese Universities and Institutions.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be US, Canada, European Union countries, UK, Switzerland, Norway, or Russia passport holders.
- Applicants must have obtained their doctoral degree at a university outside Japan within six years of the start of the fellowship.
- Applicants who have resident cards with mailing addresses in Japan are not eligible.
- Applicants must be full-time researchers.

Value of the Fellowship:
- The successful applicants can avail of the following benefits:
- A round-trip air ticket,
- Maintenance Allowance:
- For PhD holders: JPY 362,000 per month,
- For non-PhD holders when research starts in Japan: JPY 200,000 per month.
- A settling-in allowance of JPY 200,000 (only applicable for Fellows with 3 or more months of tenure),
- Overseas travel insurance.
