Jim and Barbara Milburn Scholarship in History at Victoria University at Wellington
The Jim and Barbara Milburn Scholarship was established to honor their vibrant student life at Victoria University of Wellington, where they actively participated in sports, debating, and student leadership. In 2022, the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation created this scholarship through a bequest from the Estate of James Dalton Milburn, QSM, to support students who share their passion for learning and the arts.
Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or Permanent Residents, studying History at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, and nearing completion of their first year while continuing into the second year.
Selection Criteria: Applicants will be awarded based on financial hardship.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
Award: NZD 5,000.
Deadline: 31st October, 2025.
Note:
- The funds will be paid directly to the recipient in two equal instalments in Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 during the tenure of the scholarship.
- Recipients must write a thank you letter to the donor within one month of receiving the scholarship.
- The Scholarship cannot be deferred to a later year.
- The Scholarship may be held in conjunction with other University awards.
