Jane C. Waldbaum Archaeological Field School Scholarship was Established in 2007 in honor of AIA Honorary President Jane Waldbaum, this scholarship is intended to help students who are planning to participate in archaeological fieldwork for the first time. Students majoring in archaeology or related disciplines are especially encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The scholarship is for students who have started their junior year of undergraduate studies during the application period.
  • Eligible applicants should not have completed their first year of graduate school at a college or university in the United States or Canada.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old and should not have any prior experience in archaeological fieldwork.
  • The selection committee will consider both academic achievements and financial needs during the evaluation process.
  • AIA scholarships are open to students from all backgrounds, with a special encouragement for minority and disadvantaged individuals to apply.

Value of the Scholarship:

The Scholarship Fund provides $1000 each to help pay expenses associated with participation in an archaeological field work project (minimum stay one month/4 weeks).
