Eligibility criteria for Humboldt Research Fellowship 2025:

Postdoctoral Researchers:

  • Have completed a doctorate within the last 4 years, or
  • Be within 6 months of completing the doctorate (with written summary of findings)
  • Have peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognised journals or publishing houses

Experienced Researchers:

  • Have completed a doctorate within the last 12 years
  • Have an extensive publication record reviewed to international standards

General Requirements (For Both Categories):

  • Be postdoctoral or experienced researchers with above-average academic qualifications
  • Be a non-German national (open to all countries excluding Germany)
  • Have an academic host at a German research institution
  • Comply with the rules of good scientific practice and scientific ethics
  • Not have previously received direct sponsorship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (research fellowship or award)

Benefits of Humboldt Research Fellowship 2025:

  • Monthly Fellowship Stipend
    • Postdocs: €3,000 per month
    • Experienced researchers: €3,600 per month
