The Prize was established in 1957 as a result of public conscription organised by the Auckland Music Council in memory of the late Professor Horace Hollinrake, who was Professor of Music at the University of Auckland from 1935 to 1955.

Eligibility for Hollinrake Memorial Prize 2020:

  • The Prize will be awarded to the student enrolled in a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music conjoint or a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Music who achieved the highest grade point average (GPA) across at least three Stage II Music courses. In the event of a tie, the candidate’s cumulative GPA and contribution to the life of the University may be taken into consideration.

Value of Hollinrake Memorial Prize 2020:

  • The annual value of the Prize will be NZD 400.

The Prize will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of the Head of the School of Music. The Prize may not be shared. The University of Auckland Council will not be bound to award the Prize in any year, if there is no candidate of sufficient merit.
