Overview
Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is providing the German Chancellor Fellowship to all university graduates with initial leadership experience from the following countries- Brazil, China, India, South Africa, and the USA for a 12-month program to implement a project idea they have developed themselves.
Eligibility for the German Chancellor Fellowship:
- Applicants must hold Brazilian, Chinese, Indian, South African or American citizenship.
- Candidates must work in a field such as politics, business, media, administration, society or culture and have demonstrable initial leadership experience.
- Students should have completed their first academic degree (Bachelor or comparable degree) no more than twelve years ago. The key date for calculating this twelve-year period is 1 October 2024.
- Applicants must be willing to conduct an independently developed project with a host of their choice in Germany.
- Candidates should have good knowledge of English and/or German.
Documents required:
- Letter of motivation.
- Project Plan.
- Extensive statement including mentoring agreement from your host in Germany.
- Two letters of recommendation.
Benefits:
- A monthly fellowship grant of 2,000 euros, 2,300 euros or 2,600 euros – depending on your training and career level.
- Individual support during stay in Germany.
- Additional financial support, e.g. for mobility, for accompanying family members, for travel expenses, for full private health insurance or for additional German language courses.
- Extensive alumni sponsorship, in particular, to support long-term connections with your cooperation partners in Germany over the duration of your entire professional career.

- Yes, you can secure an education loan to study abroad at Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Education loans are of two types — Collateral and non-collateral. Collateral includes either: Immovable property – a house or a flat or land (or) liquid security – an FD, or LIC or shares or bonds. Agricultural lands are not accepted by any bank for education loan.
