Dr. H. George Osborne AM Memorial Scholarship Overview

  • The Dr. H. George Osborne AM Memorial Scholarship was established in 2009 in memory of Dr. H. George Osborne, who served as the Dean of Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland (UQ) from 1971 to 1972.
  • This scholarship is funded by an annual donation from Dr. Osborne's family and is aimed at supporting domestic HDR (Higher Degree by Research) students engaged in large animal research in the field of veterinary science.

Eligibility criteria: You are eligible to apply for this scholarship if:

  • You are a domestic HDR student at UQ.
  • You are engaged in large animal research within the fields of production, reproduction, surgery, pathology, or medicine in veterinary science.

Memorial Scholarship: your application must include:

Selection Criteria: Applicants will be ranked based on:

  • Academic achievement and potential for scholastic success in the field of veterinary science.
  • Any other factors deemed relevant by the selection committee in relation to the applicant's future research development.
  • Rules: This is a Philanthropic HDR Scholarship that follows the terms outlined in the Schedule A Postgraduate Research Scholarships.
  • Scholarship recipients must adhere to the conditions of both the UQ and RTP Research Scholarships Policy, including progress and reporting requirements.

Additional conditions include:

  • Acknowledgment: Scholarship holders must acknowledge the scholarship in any paper resulting from the research conducted while holding the scholarship.
  • Engagement with Donors: Donors may invite recipients to present or report on their work.
  • Failure to comply may result in the scholarship being rescinded.
