Overview

Food Security Council grants scholarships to top candidates from developing countries. The successful candidates can research Agricultural Sciences,  Natural Sciences, and Business, Economics or Social Sciences.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicants' most recent academic degree must be completed no more than 6 years before starting the scholarship.
  • The applicant must proof of Indication for return to his/her home country and institute.
  • The applicant must be a passport holder of a developing country according to the OECD DAC list.
  • The applicant's research theme should be under the conceptual research framework of FSC.
  • The applicant's research proposal has to relate to one of the research themes.

Application Process:

  • Interested candidates must apply for the FSC's Excellence Scholarship online.
  • After the application, a professor from the university must select the applied candidate.
  • If selected the candidates are required to enroll as students at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, or Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences.
  • Documents required:
    • Scanned copy of the transcripts of all education till the most recent degree.
    • Scanned copy of the English proficiency certificate.
    • List of publications.
    • PhD research proposal.
    • Signed recommendation letter.
    • Signed cover letter.
    • Most recent CV.

Value of the Scholarship:

The selected candidates can expect to avail of the following benefits:

  • Monthly grant of EUR 1,000.
  • Travel costs to and fro the university.
  • A refund of EUR 100 for health and liability insurance.
