Research Excellence Scholarship at University College London 2024

Eligibility for the Research Excellence Scholarship:

• By the deadline for the scholarship, candidates must have either been accepted into or be enrolled in a qualifying full- or part-time degree program at UCL.
• Candidates should have at least an upper second-class honors undergraduate degree from the United Kingdom, or an equivalent degree, or be anticipated to get one.
• Candidates must be enrolled full-time or part-time in a research degree program at UCL, or they must have received an offer of admission.

Selection Criteria:

The Department to which an application has been submitted reviews candidates who meet or are expected to fulfill the qualifying requirements. A ranked shortlist of candidates is chosen by departments and presented to the central UCL Selection Panel for review. The UCL Selection Panel makes the ultimate decisions. The panel is chaired by the Pro-Vice-Provost of the Doctoral School and consists of academic professionals from several UCL departments. The following standards are applied while evaluating candidates:

• Academic excellence - as demonstrated by past academic results evidenced by transcripts, awards, and referees’ comments  
• Research Potential - as demonstrated by the candidate’s research experience to date, their enthusiasm for research, the research plan and its originality and potential societal impact.
