Eligibility Criteria for ESRC Open Competition:

Applicants must:

  • Hold a conditional or unconditional offer onto a Doctoral programme, expecting to join in September 2027
  • Have above-average academic achievement, typically 65% or above at Masters level, with a distinction-level dissertation
  • Meet English language requirements, including a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 overall with at least 6.0 in each section
  • Meet the ESRC/SGSSS residency requirement.

Covers UK or Overseas tuition fees plus a generous annual stipend.

Application Process:

  • Stage 1: Submit a programme application (MScR or PhD) online
