    The most competitive scholarship program offered by Drake University is the National Alumni Scholarship (NAS). Outstanding first-year students enrolling straight out of high school who satisfy all requirements and finish the whole application procedure are given National Alumni Scholarships.  The National Alumni Scholarship program for 2024 will take place online.

    Eligibility for Drake University National Alumni Scholarships:

    • A student must be enrolling straight out of high school and have a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or above on a 4.0 scale OR place in the top five percent of their class (weighted GPAs acceptable) in order to apply to compete for these scholarship prizes.
    • Our National Alumni Scholars are also students who have excelled in other areas, such as exceptional academic performance, which is frequently acknowledged by their school, state, or federal government; they also assume leadership roles and responsibility for a range of activities or organizations that positively impact society. Students who exhibit a strong work ethic and dedication to their extracurricular activities, employment experiences, and/or voluntary work are considered scholars.
    • When they attempt something novel or unexpected or demonstrate how they overcome difficulty or suffering, scholars demonstrate initiative and creativity. Lastly, academics show a love for what they do and who they study. Their accomplishments demonstrate their passion for learning, which they also use to broaden their own horizons.

    Value of the scholarship:

    • One National Alumni Scholarship to Drake University, full tuition. Any other half-tuition scholarship awarded is superseded by this award.  
    • Three $10,000 Carpenter Scholarships were given to Drake University to be used toward tuition. The top three semi-finalists who successfully complete both the National Alumni Scholarship Day event and a scholarship interview will be the beneficiaries. A student may get this prize in addition to their Presidential Scholarship, which has a range of $26,000 to $34,000.
