Commonwealth PhD Scholarships 2027: 

The Commonwealth PhD Scholarships support talented applicants from eligible least developed countries and vulnerable Commonwealth states to pursue full-time doctoral study at approved UK universities. Funded by the UK government through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), the scholarships aim to develop future leaders, researchers, and innovators who can contribute to the sustainable development of their home countries.

Eligibility Criteria for the Commonwealth PhD Scholarships 2027:

• Applicant must be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country or be a British Protected Person.
• Applicant must be a permanent resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
• Applicant must be available to start their academic studies in the UK by the beginning of the UK academic year in September 2027.
• Applicant must hold, by September 2027, a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honours standard or a lower second-class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification, usually a Master's degree.
• Applicant must not be registered for a PhD or an MPhil leading to a PhD at a UK university or in their home country before September/October 2026.
• Applicant must be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship.
• Applicant must provide all required supporting documentation in the specified format.

Application Process for the Commonwealth PhD Scholarships 2027:

• Check your eligibility and confirm that your country is included among the eligible least developed countries and vulnerable Commonwealth states.
• Identify a suitable PhD programme and approved UK university.
• Find and contact a potential UK PhD supervisor and obtain their support.
• Apply through the CSC's designated nominating agency in your home country.
• Complete the online CSC scholarship application and upload all required documents.
• Provide details of your proposed research project, study plan, and anticipated development impact.
• Submit the application before the specified deadline.
• Shortlisted applications are assessed by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
• Successful applicants receive confirmation of the scholarship and proceed with university admission and visa formalities.
