Eligibility Criteria for Commonwealth PhD Scholarships 2025:

Applicants must:

Be a citizen of an eligible Commonwealth country (least developed or vulnerable state) or have refugee status in such a country, or be a British Protected Person.
Be a permanent resident in their eligible Commonwealth country.
Be available to start full-time doctoral study in the UK by the start of the UK academic year (September/October 2026).
Hold by the start of study at least a first degree of upper second-class honours (2:1) or a lower second-class degree with a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree).
Not already be registered for a PhD or an MPhil leading to a PhD at a UK university or in their home country before September/October 2026.
Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship.
Provide all required supporting documentation in the correct format via the CSC online application system.
Commit to return to their home country after completing the scholarship to contribute to development.
