Colombo Plan Scholarship in Engineering at the University of Auckland 2026:

The Colombo Plan Scholarship in Engineering supports international students from eligible Colombo Plan member countries undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate Engineering programmes at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland. The scholarship was established in 2011 and is funded by alumni of the Faculty of Engineering who studied at the University under the Colombo Plan, together with other donors.

Eligibility Criteria for the Colombo Plan Scholarship in Engineering at the University of Auckland 2026:

• Applicant must be an international student.
• Applicant must be a citizen of one of the following countries:
  • Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the United States of America, or Vietnam.
• Applicant must be enrolled or enrolling full-time in one of the following at the University of Auckland:
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) conjoint degree
  • Postgraduate degree programme in Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Design.

Application Process for the Colombo Plan Scholarship in Engineering at the University of Auckland 2026:

• Complete and submit the scholarship application form to the Scholarships Office.
• Applications usually open approximately six weeks before the closing date.

Selection Criteria:

• Applications are assessed by a Selection Committee.
• The scholarship is awarded by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of the Selection Committee.
• Selection is based on:
  • Academic merit
  • Financial need
  • Community activities
  • Communication skills
  • Leadership potential
  • Desire to contribute positively to the engineering profession
• The Selection Committee comprises:
  • Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design or nominee
  • Deputy Dean of Engineering and Design or nominee
  • An academic from the Faculty of Engineering and Design nominated by the Dean.

Value of the Scholarship:

• NZD 3,000 contribution towards compulsory tuition fees.

Conditions of Acceptance:

• The scholarship is paid towards compulsory tuition fees upon acceptance of the scholarship offer and satisfaction of the applicable requirements.
• The recipient must remain enrolled full-time in a BE(Hons), BE(Hons) conjoint degree, or postgraduate Engineering programme.
• The scholarship may be held with another scholarship, award, or grant where permitted by the relevant regulations and with approval from the University of Auckland Council.
• The recipient must declare all other scholarships, awards, or grant funding to the Scholarships Office.
• The University of Auckland Council is not required to make an award if no candidate meets the criteria or demonstrates sufficient merit.
