Overview

The Carlaw-Ogston Master of Music Scholarship is available for students undertaking a full-time 12-month Master of Music (MMus) postgraduate degree at the University of Aberdeen, starting in the academic year 2022-23.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must have a First or Upper Second Class Honours degree in Music or an equivalent qualification.
  • Applicants must plan to undertake MMus studies within the Department of Music at the University of Aberdeen.
  • Preference will be given to students who have completed their undergraduate degree at the University of Aberdeen.

Value of the Scholarship :

  • The scholarship is valued at £2,000 for the duration of the postgraduate degree (one year).
  • The scholarship will be dispersed in two equal parts: £1,000 at the start of the academic year and GBP 1,000 at the start of the second half session.
  • Continuation of the award is subject to satisfactory progress over the period, with an annual review.

The scholarship will be awarded based on merit and musical talent in any area of music, including composition or musicology.

Application Procedure:

  • Applicants must submit a CV, at least one recent example of their work (composition or essay), and a cover letter outlining their intended postgraduate studies to Mr Euan Crabb at the Department of Music, University of Aberdeen.
