Eligibility for the Care Leavers Bursary at the University of Surrey:

  • Be a Care Leaver (looked after by a local authority for at least 13 weeks since age 14 and in care at/after age 16) OR
  • Be an Estranged student, meaning:
    • No communication with parents before course start, or
    • Parents cannot be contacted / unsafe to contact, or
    • Parents have severe mental/physical health issues preventing contact, or
    • Both parents are deceased
  • Be a full-time undergraduate student
  • Be a UK student (home fee status)
  • Be paying full tuition fees (not NHS-funded or otherwise sponsored)

Value of Care Leavers Bursary at the University of Surrey:

  • £3,000 per year bursary
