Eligibility for the Care Leavers Bursary at the University of Surrey:
Applicants must:
- Be a Care Leaver (looked after by a local authority for at least 13 weeks since age 14 and in care at/after age 16) OR
- Be an Estranged student, meaning:
- No communication with parents before course start, or
- Parents cannot be contacted / unsafe to contact, or
- Parents have severe mental/physical health issues preventing contact, or
- Both parents are deceased
- Be a full-time undergraduate student
- Be a UK student (home fee status)
- Be paying full tuition fees (not NHS-funded or otherwise sponsored)
Value of Care Leavers Bursary at the University of Surrey:
- £3,000 per year bursary
- Additional £500 upon graduation (to support transition costs)
