Care Leaver and Estranged Student Accommodation Award at University of Northampton 2026:

The Care Leaver and Estranged Student Accommodation Award provides eligible undergraduate students from care backgrounds or those who are estranged from their parents with a fully funded place in a single en-suite room in the University of Northampton’s Halls of Residence for the 2026/27 academic year. Up to five places are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligibility Criteria for the Care Leaver and Estranged Student Accommodation Award at University of Northampton 2026:

  • Applicant must be beginning the first academic year of their course in 2026/27.
  • Applicant must be under 25 years of age on the first day of the first academic year of their course.
  • Applicant must be a Home student enrolled on a full-time undergraduate course at the University of Northampton.
  • Applicant must not be an EU or International student.
  • Applicant must have been in care or under a care order for at least 13 weeks since the age of 14, or must be from a Foyer.
  • Applicant must provide a supporting letter from their Local Authority or support worker confirming their care background, where applicable.
  • Applicant who is applying as an estranged student must meet the Student Finance England (SFE) definition of an estranged student.
  • Applicant must not be living with their parents.
  • Applicant must not be receiving financial support from their parents.

Application Process for the Care Leaver and Estranged Student Accommodation Award at University of Northampton 2026:

  • Applicant must complete the online application form.
  • Applicant must have the University of Northampton as their firm choice on UCAS to access the relevant accommodation application portal.
  • Applicant must provide supporting evidence of their care experience, where applicable.
  • Applicant applying as an estranged student must provide confirmation of their SFE assessment as an estranged student.
  • Applicant who is awarded the accommodation will not be required to pay a deposit for Halls of Residence.

Value of the Scholarship:

  • Successful applicants will receive a fully funded place in a single en-suite room in one of the University of Northampton’s Halls of Residence.
  • The accommodation is provided under a full 52-week contract.
  • The accommodation is completely free of charge for the first year of study.
  • Up to five places are available.
