1916 Bursary Fund at Dublin City University 2025

Introduction: 

The 1916 Bursary Fund is a need-based financial support scheme co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS). It is designed to improve access, participation, and success in higher education for students who are socioeconomically disadvantaged or come from underrepresented groups.

Eligibility requirements for the 1916 Bursary Fund at Dublin City University:

• Applicants must meet all three categories of eligibility
  • Financial eligibility: Must demonstrate socio-economic disadvantage.
  • Priority group eligibility: Must belong to designated underrepresented or priority groups in higher education.
  • College entry eligibility: Must have gained entry to a participating higher education institution (HEI) within a regional cluster such as the Midlands East & North Dublin

Value of the scholarship:

A full-time student will be awarded as per tiers. 

• Tier 1: Euro 5,000 per year.
• Tier 2: Euro 2,000 per year.
• Tier 3: One-off payment of Euro 1,500.

Applications are made through the participating higher education institution’s 1916 Bursary application system.
