The Vice-Chancellor’s Doctoral Scholarship is designed to support exceptional doctoral candidates with outstanding academic performance. It aims to promote high-quality research at AUT by providing full financial support.

Eligibility criteria for AUT Vice-Chancellor’s Doctoral Scholarship 2026:

Applicants must:

  • Be applying as a new doctoral candidate.
  • Hold an unconditional Offer of Place in the doctoral programme.
  • Have a GPA of 8.0 or above in their most recent qualification completed at a New Zealand tertiary institution.
  • (For Māori and domestic Pacific applicants) have a GPA of 7.5+ and be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
  • Enrol in the doctoral programme within 3 months of receiving the scholarship.
