The Health New Zealand Canterbury or West Coast District Student Scholarship supports students enrolled in the Bachelor of Health Science in Perioperative Practice at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) who are interested in working in the Canterbury or West Coast Districts as a Registered Anaesthetic Technician after completing their degree.
The scholarship aims to support the healthcare workforce pipeline and promote an equitable workforce that reflects the population it serves. It provides support towards course costs and travel and accommodation expenses associated with clinical placements and/or academic learning. Recipients are expected to apply for and, where offered, accept employment with Health New Zealand in the Canterbury or West Coast District for a specified period following graduation.

- Applicant must be a New Zealand citizen, New Zealand permanent resident, or Australian citizen.
- Applicant must be an undergraduate student enrolled in the Bachelor of Health Science in Perioperative Practice at AUT.
- Applicant may be studying in any year of the programme.
- Applicant must be undertaking the second or third year of clinical placement for the scholarship tenure.
- Applicant must be prepared to pursue employment as an Anaesthetic Technician with Health New Zealand in the Canterbury or West Coast Districts following graduation.
- Applicant must commit to 24 months of employment as an Anaesthetic Technician with Health New Zealand in the Canterbury or West Coast Districts following graduation, where employment is offered.

Value of the Scholarship:
- Successful recipients may receive up to NZD 24,000 in total.
- The scholarship is paid in three equal installments, subject to the applicable conditions:
- First installment: Funded by Health New Zealand and paid by AUT after successful completion of Year 2, including all courses up to and including Semester 4 of the published programme pathway or equivalent, including recognition of prior learning. If the recipient has fewer than 120 points remaining to complete this stage, the first installment will be paid pro rata based on the points remaining.
- Second installment: Payable when the recipient commences employment as an Anaesthetic Technician with Health New Zealand in the Canterbury or West Coast Districts.
- Third installment: Payable after the recipient completes 24 months of employment as an Anaesthetic Technician with Health New Zealand in the Canterbury or West Coast Districts.
