The American Bar Foundation (ABF) is offering Doctoral/Postdoctoral Fellowships to encourage original and significant empirical and interdisciplinary research in the field of law and inequality.

Eligibility for American Bar Foundation(ABF) Doctoral Fellowships Program, 2025:

  • Proposed or Doctoral research must belong to the general area of sociolegal studies or include social scientific approaches to the legal processes, legal institutions, or law. 
  • Significant issues in the field of Law & Inequality must be addressed in the research by the applicant.
  • Doctoral or proposed research for American Bar Foundation (ABF) Doctoral Fellowships Program, 2025 must show promise of a major contribution to a social scientific understanding of law and inequality. 
  • Candidates from underrepresented minority groups are encouraged to apply. 

Application procedure:

  • Candidates applying for American Bar Foundation(ABF) Doctoral Fellowships Program, 2025 must include a writing sample or a dissertation proposal that briefly describes substance and methods of the research.
  • A curriculum vitae of the applicant.
  • Applicants must include two letters of reference of which one must be from a supervisor of the dissertation.
