Oei Family Scholarship 2024

The Oei Family Scholarship was founded in 2018 and is supported by donations from the Oei Family in recognition of Emeritus Professor Tian Po Sumantri Oei's contributions to the University of Queensland's psychology department.

Eligibility for Oei Family Scholarship at the University of Queensland:

• The student has to be enrolled in an eligible program or plan to enrol in one.
• The applicant cannot be the recipient of another scholarship that the head deems comparable.

Application Process:

You will receive an invitation to apply if you are an eligible student.

The following things should be in your application:

• Your name, program of study, and enrolment status (part-time or full-time)
• How do you meet one or more of the following criteria:
• • financial disadvantage
  • being from a Rural or Regional Area
  • being the first in their family to attend university
  • being from a non-English speaking background
  • aspiration to work in rural or remote locations after graduation.
• A personal statement of no more than 500 words explaining how the Oei Family Scholarship will assist in the completion of your program

Selection Criteria:

The university will consider the following aspects:

• The applicant should demonstrate evidence of one or more of the following:
• • financial need
  • being from a rural or regional area
  • being the first in your family to attend university
  • being from a non-English speaking background
• The strength of your statement explaining the benefit you would gain from the scholarship
• Any other matter the selection committee considers relevant for your future academic success.
