Gates Cambridge Scholarships for International Students 2023

The University of Cambridge received a landmark US$210 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in October 2000, which launched the Gates Cambridge Scholarship program. In October 2001, the inaugural group of scholars moved into their house. Since then, scholars from more than 100 countries have received over 2,000 scholarships from the Trust. Every year, Gates Cambridge provides approximately 80 full-cost scholarships to deserving candidates from non-UK nations so they can pursue a postgraduate degree at the University of Cambridge in any subject. PhD students will be eligible for about two-thirds of these scholarships; there will be about 25 awards available in the US round and 55 in the international round.

Eligibility for Gates Cambridge Scholarships for International Students :

• A national of any non-UK nation wishing to apply to the University of Cambridge for any of the following programs: PhD (full-time or part-time*)
• MLitt (complete time)
• A full-time, one-year postgraduate program, with certain exceptions 

Courses that Gates Cambridge does NOT consider:

• Any Undergraduate degree, such as a BA (undergraduate) or BA affiliated (a second BA)
• Business Doctorate (BusD)
• Master of Business (MBA)
• Master of Finance (MFin)
• MASt courses
• PGCE
• MBBChir Clinical Studies
• MD Doctor of Medicine degree (6 years, part-time, Home students only)
• Graduate Course in Medicine (A101)
• Part-time degrees other than the PhD
• Non-degree courses
