William Thomas Williams Honours Bursary at James Cook University
In 1995, William Thomas Williams bequeathed to the University the whole of his estate. His estate included a property and a music collection. The proceeds from the sale of the property are held in a dedicated restricted fund. The funds are to be used for the education of persons in creative arts.
Eligibility for the William Thomas Williams Honours Bursary:
The William Thomas Williams Honours Bursary shall be open to competition among candidates who are enrolled or intend to enroll in the Bachelor of Arts Honours year.
Selection Criteria:
The selection of the winner shall be made by the William Thomas Williams Awards Committee:
- Academic merit (50%)
- Commitment to the chosen field (25%)
- Work/volunteer experience in chosen field (25%)
Application Process:
- Applicants must submit their application through the official channel before the stated deadline and include all required documents, such as a CV, academic transcript, and a statement outlining their passion for the field, as incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Applicants must also authorise the Selection Committee to verify their good character and suitability for the scholarship, including reviewing relevant records where necessary.
Value of the Scholarship:
The value of the bursary will be $10,000 for full-time and $5,000 for part-time or such amount as the Fund administrator determines from time to time.
