    The Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at Stanford University offers a twelve-week residential fellowship called the Wayne Vucinich Fellowship. The Vucinich Fellow is expected to actively engage in the Center's scholarly events and undertake independent research while in residence during the fellowship term. The Hoover Institution Library and Archives, the Stanford community of researchers, and the Stanford University Libraries will all be available to the fellow. The CREEES-organized presentation, seminar, or workshop on the fellow's study will take place

    Eligibility for Wayne Vucinich Fellowship:

    Scholars in any field who study historical or current issues in Russia, East Europe, the Caucasus, or Central Asia are eligible to apply for the fellowship. Applicants must be scholars who have earned their PhD within the last five years. (Having a PhD in hand at the start of the residency is necessary.) Scholars who live in nations that are directly under the Center's jurisdiction—Russia, East Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia—will be given preference.

    Value of the Scholarship:

    The scholarship provides a $15,000 living stipend in addition to funding health insurance, overseas travel, and visa assistance. The fellow will have use of a shared workspace at the Center in addition to library access.

    Documents required:

    • Applicants for the Wayne Vucinich Fellowship should submit the fellowship application form, a curriculum vitae, and two recommendation letters.
    • Candidates should submit an application letter or a research proposal, a writing sample a chapter of the book or article, and a short proposal for a public lecture or workshop to be held at Stanford.
