    The fellowship provides full tuition and fees (and nonresident supplemental tuition if applicable) plus an annual stipend to match the stipend amount that is provided to students in their respective academic programs. The distribution of the funding is as follows:

    • Year 1: UCOP (stipend + tuition/fees)
    • Year 2: Department (stipend or teaching/research assistantship + tuition/fees)
    • Year 3: UCOP (stipend + tuition/fees)
    • Year 4: Graduate Division (stipend + tuition/fees)
    • Year 5: Graduate Division (stipend + tuition/fees)
    • Year 6: Department (stipend or teaching/research assistantship + tuition/fees)

    The funding provided for years 2 and 6 must be departmental funding. Outside sources are not considered part of the commitment. 

    UCOP also provides a $1,000 stipend for professional development activities. This stipend can be activated at any time during the Fellowship.
