The University of Minnesota is offering undergraduate research scholarships to prospective freshmen.

Eligibility for the Undergraduate Research Scholarships:

Be awarded a URS scholarship as part of your admissions award package.
Be a first‑ or second‑year undergraduate student at UMN.
Work on the research project with a faculty mentor at the University of Minnesota.
Complete the project by the end of your second year (by end of August).

Value of the Scholarship:

$1,400 for 120 hours of research, paid through financial aid.
- $700 at the start of your project
- $700 after meeting all project requirements.
Up to $300 in expense money for project‑related costs

Application Process:

After admission, students must:

Write a research project proposal.
Submit the online URS application form.
Have a faculty mentor complete an online recommendation form.
