UD International Scholarship at the University of Debrecen 2026:

The UD International Scholarship at the University of Debrecen is part of a pilot programme initiated by the Hungarian Government to provide international students who are not currently enrolled in Hungary with opportunities to pursue higher education in Hungary. The programme aims to increase the number of international students in degree programmes related to natural sciences, medical and health sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). It also seeks to increase international students’ participation in professional internship opportunities, support their integration into the Hungarian labour market, and strengthen Hungary’s pool of qualified international graduates.

Eligibility Criteria for the UD International Scholarship at the University of Debrecen 2026:

• Applicant must be a citizen of an eligible country listed by the University of Debrecen.
• Applicant must be applying for an eligible undergraduate, graduate, or one-tier Master’s programme covered by the scholarship.
• Applicant must be an international student who is not currently enrolled in Hungary.
• Applicant must meet the academic and admission requirements of the selected University of Debrecen programme.
• Applicant must demonstrate a strong academic background, as academic qualifications are considered when determining the scholarship level.
• Applicant must successfully complete the University of Debrecen admission/entrance examination, where applicable.
• Applicant’s entrance examination performance may be considered when determining the tuition-fee discount.

Application Process for the UD International Scholarship at the University of Debrecen 2026:

• Applicant must apply for an eligible international degree programme at the University of Debrecen through the University’s online application platform, Stuart.
• Applicant must complete the online application and upload all required documents.
• Applicant must submit the required passport or ID copy, motivation letter, CV, two recommendation letters, educational certificates/degree certificates, and academic transcripts.
• Applicant must pay the required application fee and provide proof of payment.
• Applicant must complete the University’s entrance examination, where applicable.
• Applicant’s academic background and entrance examination performance are considered during the scholarship assessment.
• The University of Debrecen Scholarship Committee evaluates eligible applicants and determines the applicable tuition-fee discount.
• Applicant must submit their application within the applicable admission period and before the available scholarship budget and programme places are filled.
• For the 2026 intake, the University of Debrecen’s international degree-programme application deadline was 15 June 2026.

Value of the Scholarship:

• The scholarship provides a tuition-fee discount, with the percentage varying depending on the programme and the applicant’s academic and entrance examination performance.
• For Medicine and Dentistry programmes, the tuition-fee discount is a maximum of 30% of the full annual tuition fee.
• For other eligible programmes, the tuition-fee discount is a maximum of 90% of the full annual tuition fee.
• The scholarship also includes medical insurance.
• The exact tuition-fee discount awarded depends on the applicant’s academic background and entrance examination performance.

Notes:

• The scholarship is intended for international students who are not currently enrolled in Hungary.
• Eligible programmes are focused particularly on natural sciences, medical and health sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics, subject to the University’s approved programme list.
• The scholarship does not provide a single fixed tuition-fee discount; the percentage depends on the programme and individual assessment.
• The University may stop accepting applications once the available scholarship budget or programme places have been filled.
