    Eligibility Criteria for the Torch Scholars Program: 

    • The applicants should be first-generation college students whose parents/guardians do not have a U.S. undergraduate degree or equivalent.
    • Are U.S. citizens or permanent residents from low-income households (and are likely to be Pell Grant eligible). 
    • Demonstration of financial need is required.
    • Show leadership through community, school, work, or service. 
    • Torch does not require a specific GPA.

    Selection Process:

    • Students must be nominated by a non-family member and chosen to be a Torch scholar by the selection committee.
    • The nomination is due January 1. To submit a nomination for the Torch Scholars Program, nominators must create an account to access the Torch Nominator Portal. 
    • Students should complete the FAFSA and CSS Profile to be considered for the Torch Scholars program as well as other federal and institutional financial assistance.
    • Finalists will be notified and asked to complete a non-cognitive assessment and complete three additional essays before their interview day.
    • Finalists will participate in an Interview Day, which will include an individual interview, group interview, math assessment, and faculty lecture.

    Value of the Scholarship:

    • $81,931 including Full Tuition, Housing, Food, and Fee.
    • Up to 3 scholarships are typically awarded annually.
