The United States American government funds this Prize to honor a senior student majoring in History who has displayed the best overall academic performance in studying United States history.
Eligibility Criteria for the Thomas Jefferson Prize in United States History:
- Students need to be enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Arts conjoint student, majoring in History, who achieved the highest mark in a Stage II or III level course in United States History.
- Students should have achieved a GPA of at least 7.00 (equivalent to an A- average).

- The Prize is awarded by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of the Deputy Head (Academic) of the School of Humanities
