Description:

The Therle Drake Postgraduate Scholarship will be available annually, and applications should be made by 15 November or 15 March in the year following, or the year in which the project is planned. All instrumentalists are eligible, though preference may be given to a piano student.

Eligibility for the Therle Drake Postgraduate Scholarship:

  • Applicants must be enrolling or have enrolled for postgraduate study at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Students should be attending a short course or attending and/or participating in a concert and/or masterclass in Europe, North America, or Australia.
  • The scholarship is open to New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, and international students.

Selection criteria:

The applicant must be enrolled or have enrolled for postgraduate study at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington and remain in good academic standing.

Documents required:

  • A personal statement outlining the project and its benefit to the applicant's career plans.
  • A detailed budget.
  • Copies of any communication with the host person(s) or organization(s) overseas.
  • A reference from the principal supervisor.

Application: Applicants must submit a complete online application by 4:30 pm on 31st March 2026. Applications will normally open one month before the closing date.
