The Torres Fund - Hope for Change in Academic Institutions Scholarship
The purpose of the Torres Fund Hope for Change in Academic Institutions Scholarship is intended to create an inclusive and diverse environment in academic institutions by supporting future and current graduate students whose future goals are to diversify academic faculty positions in STEM fields.
Eligibility criteria for The Torres Fund - Hope for Change in Academic Institutions Scholarship -
- The applicants must be pursuing major in Biological Sciences.
- They must have minimum GPA: 3.0 overall GPA
- They must be Graduate: Undergrad: Senior. Graduate: Classified, Unclassified.
- The financial need may be considered, but is not required.
- They must be enrolled at least half-time enrollment at time of award and at time of application
NOTE -
*Essay Required: Student applicants must submit a one-to-two-page personal statement describing their plans to attend gradate school and how they will contribute to increasing diversity in higher education and STEM programs.
*Renewable Award: Student recipients are eligible to reapply for the scholarship award. The students application will be considered by the scholarship committee as part of the entire applicant pool.
*Preference: First-generation college student with preference for students from communities which are underrepresented in STEM fields.
