The Tarapada and Nirmala Basu Scholarship for the Use of AI to Benefit Developing Countries at Imperial College London
The Tarapada and Nirmala Basu Scholarship supports students for the 2026/27 academic year who are interested in using Artificial Intelligence to create a positive impact in developing countries. Established in 2024 by Imperial alumnus Professor Amiya Basu in honour of his parents, this scholarship aims to encourage research that leverages AI for global development.
Eligibility Criteria of The Tarapada and Nirmala Basu Scholarship for the Use of AI to Benefit Developing Countries:
- Applicants will be assessed based on their academic merit, their familiarity with AI and its potential to benefit developing countries, and their financial need. They must also submit two written statements: one outlining their interest and familiarity with AI in the context of developing countries, and another explaining their financial need.
- Applicants must complete the scholarship application form and hold an offer for an eligible programme by 11:59 pm (UK time), Friday 27th March 2026.
