The Professor Malcolm Sargeant Scholarship

This Scholarship was donated by the Professor Malcolm Sargeant Charitable Trust, which was set up in memory of Professor Malcolm Sargeant, a Professor at Middlesex. Professor Sargeant was the first of his family to go to university, and this changed his life and his future. As a legacy to him and his life, the Professor Malcolm Sargeant Charitable Trust supports future students to achieve their goals by helping with access to a university education.

Eligibility criteria -

  • The applicant must be an incoming first-year undergraduate student joining Middlesex University London in Sept/Oct 2025.
  • Studying any subject at undergraduate level.
  • A resident of England or Wales.
  • The Scholarship will be conditional on the recipient both accepting and starting their course. If the nominee does not start their course then the conditional offer of the Scholarship will be retracted.
  • Applications must be made by individuals, not organisations.
  • Priority will be given to those who are the first in their generation to go to university.
  • Priority will be given to those who can demonstrate financial hardship and the impact this Scholarship will have on their studies.

Application process -

  • The applicant must surpass all the additional requirements the University sets for admission.

Award - This Scholarship is for the academic year 2025/2026 and is to the value of £2,900. It will be distributed in 3 instalments throughout the year and is available to a first year undergraduate studying any subject. As the Scholarship is payable in instalments, then payment of subsequent Scholarship instalments may be dependent on continued study at Middlesex and the Trustees reserve the right to withdraw the Scholarship if this is no longer the case.

Deadline- The closing date to apply is 11 October 2026.
