The Paul Winters Scholarship at Northumbria University 2024

The Paul Winters Scholarships for September 2024 aim to support women pursuing their Full-Time BSc (Hons) Sociology degree at Northumbria University. Established by Paul Winters, a successful alumnus, these scholarships provide financial assistance to enhance the recipients' learning and overall university experience.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Students should be UK/Home applicants - This includes students domiciled in Jersey, Guernsey, The Channel Islands, Ireland, and the Isle of Man.
• Students must have a household income of under £35,000.
• Apply for, and be accepted onto, BSc (Hons) Sociology, to begin at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus on a Full-Time basis in September 2024
• Students need to choose Northumbria as their firm choice by 06 June 2024.
• Students should be self-funded student (i.e. not in receipt of sponsorship or other funding for the payment of fees, such as employer funding).
• Apply for one or more elements of the Government Student Finance package (for example, tuition fee loan, maintenance loan) for your application to be means-tested.
• Students must have registered with Student Finance England (SFE), Student Finance Wales (SFW), or Student Finance Northern Ireland (SFNI).
• Students should be classified as Scottish students, register with the Student Award Agency for Scotland (SAAS), and apply to be means-tested for maintenance funding so that SASS can send their data to Student Finance England.
• Students must agree to share consent via your Government Finance Provider with Northumbria University.

Application Process:

Applicants need to apply through an online written application. They must respond to the question: "How will this Award support your aspirations to succeed in Higher Education?" in no more than 3000 characters (500 words). Applications will be evaluated based on the strength of response against marking criteria.

Value of the Scholarship :

Each selected student will receive GBP 3,500 per year during their Undergraduate studies, totaling GBP 10,500. The scholarship amount will be disbursed in three installments each year.
