Study Abroad Scholarships (Scheduled Tribe)

The scheme provides scholarships to Scheduled Tribe students for pursuing higher education abroad by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Eligibility Criteria -

  • The applicant must not exceed 35 years of age as of 1st January of the application year.
  • The total annual income of the applicant’s family should be ₹10 lakhs or below from all sources
  • The scholarship covers the following maximum course durations:
    • Postgraduate Degree: Up to 2 years
    • PhD: Up to 4 years
    • Research Programs: Up to 1 year 6 months
  • The applicant should have the following educational qualifications:
    • For Postgraduate: Must have passed the graduation final examination with at least 55% marks.
    • For PhD: Must have passed the postgraduate examination with at least 50% marks.
    • The applicant should choose the foreign educational institution for admission independently.
    • The applicant should be applying for a postgraduate or higher-level degree.

Application Process -

  • Step 1: Visit the Tribal Affairs Department Headquarters, Bhopal (during office hours) and collect the official application form.
  • Step 2: Fill in all required details, attach a passport-size photo, and include all necessary documents (self-attested if needed).
  • Step 3: Submit the completed application form along with documents to the concerned authority within the given deadline.
  • Step 4: Collect an acknowledgment or receipt showing the date, time, and submission ID (if provided).

Award -

  • The scheme covers tuition fees of 40,000 US Dollars per year, along with a living allowance of 9,000 US Dollars and a contingency allowance of 1,000 US Dollars.
  • Additional expenses such as visa fees, insurance, poll tax, airfare, and rail/bus fare are also provided.
