Southampton Physics and Astronomy Achievement Scholarship 2026

Eligibility criteria for the Southampton Physics and Astronomy Achievement Scholarship:

• Applicants must have submitted their application for an undergraduate programme in Physics and Astronomy by the UCAS equal consideration deadline: 6pm, Wednesday 14 January 2026.
• Applicants must have a conditional or unconditional offer from the University of Southampton.
• Applicants must book an online or in-person interview with the School of Physics and Astronomy.
• Applicants must be self-funding their fees.
• Applicants must not be in receipt of external sponsorship (if applying as an international student).

Value of Southampton Physics and Astronomy Achievement Scholarship:

• £5,000 stipend scholarship per year.
• Renewable for up to 4 years, totalling up to £20,000, subject to maintaining first-class academic performance (70%).

Application Process:

• Applicants must:
  • Submit an essay (up to 500 words) on a physics topic of their choice
  • Submit the essay at least 7 days before the interview
  • Book and attend an interview
• Essays are scored and ranked.
• Interview questions will be based on the essay to verify authorship.
