Sir Roy McKenzie Deaf Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington

The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage and enable more deaf students to achieve a tertiary qualification by studying at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.

Eligibility Criteria of Sir Roy McKenzie Deaf Scholarship:

1. Applicants must have a hearing loss of 70 dB or greater in their better ear (severely deaf).
2. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate programme (second year or above) or in a postgraduate programme.

Selection Criteria: 

1. Applicants must have a hearing loss of 70 dB or more and be enrolled in undergraduate (second year or above) or postgraduate study.
2. Any field of study is considered, but postgraduate preference is given to courses benefiting the development of deaf people; applicants should demonstrate strong academic ability.

Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Award: NZD 5,000 undergraduate; NZD 10,000 postgraduate.

Note: 

1. Recipients must write a thank-you letter to the scholarship donor.
2. A brief annual report on academic progress and plans must be submitted.
