Schools and Colleges Membership Bursary 2026-27
- The University of Essex is offering a £1,000 bursary to eligible students who are progressing from Schools and Colleges Membership Plus, London, South East, or Midlands schools and colleges to an undergraduate course at the University in October 2025.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the Schools and Colleges Membership Bursary, you must:
- Have completed your studies at a partner school or college listed in the provided tables in academic year 2025-26.
- Progress directly from your studies at one of the listed schools/colleges.
- Register for your first year of a full-time undergraduate degree (Diploma of Higher Education, Foundation Degree, Bachelors, or Integrated Masters) at the University of Essex in October 2026.
- The bursary can be held alongside other University of Essex awards, including the Essex Futures Bursary or Essex Preparation Programme Bursary.
Students Not Eligible:
- Students pursuing degrees that are wholly online.
- Students transferring into the second year from another UK higher education institution.
- Students continuing from one course to another (e.g., Foundation degree to final year of an honours degree).
- Students who are fully or partly sponsored by their government or external agencies (excluding VISA sponsorship).
How to Apply:
- To be considered for these awards the applicants must complete and submit the application form by 11:59pm BST on 11 September 2026.
Bursary Details:
- Value: £1,000 for the first year of study (2026-27).
- The bursary will be paid in two instalments (usually in February and May) by bank transfer.
- A UK bank account is required to receive the payment.
- If there is an outstanding debt with the University, the bursary will be used to offset that debt before being paid to you.
Bursary Suspension:
- The bursary will be suspended during any approved leave of absence (intermission) and can be reinstated upon your return to full-time study, subject to the conditions above.
- No payment will be made for repeat periods of study.
- This bursary is an excellent opportunity for students progressing from a participating school or college, providing financial support for the first year of their undergraduate degree.
