Eligibility Criteria for School of Classics Widening Access PhD Scholarship:

Applicants must:

• Apply for a postgraduate research (PhD) programme in the School of Classics at the University of St Andrews
• Be prospective students entering in 2025
• Meet the admission requirements for PhD study
• Submit one personal reference supporting eligibility criteria.

Preference may be given to applicants who:

• Identify as members of excluded or under-represented groups
• Are from ethnic minority backgrounds
• Have disabilities
• Are first-generation university students
• Come from socio-economically disadvantaged households
• Have a household income below £34,000
• Are from developing economies as defined by the United Nations

Value of School of Classics Widening Access PhD Scholarship:

• Full tuition fees (Home or Overseas)
• Up to £19,737 per annum, consisting of maintenance and (if applicable) NHS surcharge, one return flight per year, and visa costs.
