Robert Young Scholarship 2024 is being offered by Durham University for undergraduate students. Durham University received a GBP 1 million donation from Robert Young, a local entrepreneur and former Councillor. This is the largest scholarship donation in the university's history and will enable them to award a GBP 10,000 scholarship every year.

Eligibility for Robert Young Scholarship 2024:

  • Attended two of the most recent four years of their education at a County Durham school, college, or other secondary education provider that is maintained by the state
  • possess a household income that is less than 42,875 pounds as determined by Student Finance England's assessment. Applicants whose household income is less than 25,000 pounds will be given preference.
  • Resident in County Durham at the point of submitting an academic application through UCAS for a place at Durham University. 

How to apply :

  • Submit an academic application to Durham University by the UCAS deadline of 31st January 2024.
  • Submit a scholarship application with a personal statement explaining your financial situation, how the Robert Young Scholarship would help you study at Durham University, and why you want to study there.
  • Submit a teacher's character reference for your scholarship application to be sent by email at scholarship.application@durham.ac.uk.
  • Robert Young Scholarship applications are judged on personal statements, references, and academics.

Value of Robert Young Scholarship 2024:

The reward provides 10,000 pounds per year which covers:

  • Payment of tuition fees (up to 10,000 pounds).
  • The remaining balance is for college accommodation if living on campus, or directly to the recipient if living off campus.
