Overview

RMIT is offering 3 international PhD scholarships for citizens of Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico, for commencement in 2026.

Eligibility for RMIT Latin American PhD Scholarships:

  • Applicants must be nationals of Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Peru, or Colombia.  
  • Applicants must have achieved a high distinction in the final two years of the qualifying program.
  • Applicants must not have already completed a graduate research program at the same or higher course level.
  • Applicants must enroll in an RMIT Australian campus. 
  • Applicants must meet English language requirements by the application closing date.
  • Applicants must have more than 24 months remaining of PhD candidature as of 1 January 2026 or more than 12 months remaining of master's candidature.

Application Process:

All eligible candidates must go through the following process to complete the scholarship application.

  • Applicants must choose a PhD topic/project,
  • Contact a potential supervisor and obtain an agreement to supervise,
  • Draft an Expression of Interest,
  • Submit the application and EOI online.

Value of the Award:

The successful candidates can avail of the following benefits:

  • A stipend/ living allowance of approximately AUD 36,963 for a maximum of 3.5 years,
  • A tuition fee scholarship at the applicable program rate for 4 years,
  • Visa length for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
