Overview

The Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) Scheme for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes is formulated and funded by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be Indian nationals.
  • Applicants must belong to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe category.
  • Applicants must enroll in M.Phil. and Ph.D degrees in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, or Engineering and Technology.
  • Applicants must have passed the Post Graduate examination.

Application Process:

All eligible candidates must apply online to be considered for the scholarship.

Value of the Scholarship:

The successful candidates are awarded based on the following quotas:

  • Fellowship in Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Engineering & Technology:
    • Rs.16000/-p.m. for the initial two years
    • Rs.18000/-p.m. for remaining tenure
  • Contingency A (Humanities and Social Sciences)
    • Rs.10000/-p.a. for the initial two years
    • Rs.20500/-p.a. for remaining tenure
  • Contingency B (Sciences, Engg. and Technology)
    • Rs.12000/-p.a. for the initial two years
    • Rs.25000/-p.a. for remaining tenure
  • Departmental Assistance (For all disciplines)
    • Rs. 3000/- p.a. per student to the host institution for providing infrastructure
  • Escorts/Reader assistance (For all disciplines)
    • Rs. 2000/- p.m. in cases of physically handicapped & blind candidates
  • HRA - As per the rules of the University/ Institutions
