The Oei Family Scholarship aims to support postgraduate students in health and medicine who are experiencing financial hardship or come from rural or remote backgrounds. It encourages students with these challenges to pursue and complete their studies, with an emphasis on contributing to rural and remote communities.

Eligibility for the Oei Family Scholarship at the University of Queensland:

Applicants must:

Be a current or future student enrolled (or intending to enrol) in an approved postgraduate coursework program at UQ; and
Not hold another scholarship deemed similar by the Head of School.

Application Process:

Only eligible students will receive an invitation to apply.
The application must include:
- Personal details: name, program of study, and enrolment status (full-time/part-time)
- Explanation of how you meet one or more of the following criteria:
  - Financial disadvantage
  - From a rural or regional area
  - First in family to attend university
  - From a non-English speaking background
  - Aspiration to work in rural/remote locations after graduation
- A personal statement (max. 500 words) describing how the scholarship will support completion of your program.

The scholarship is valued at AUD $5,000 per year.
