NSW Health Indigenous Genetic Counselling Scholarship at University of Technology Sydney 2025

Overview:

The Scholarship aims to support an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person studying a Master of Genetic Counselling at UTS Graduate School of Health.

Eligibility for NSW Health Indigenous Genetic Counselling Scholarship UTS:

• Be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and provide either: 
  • a Confirmation of Aboriginality from a Local Aboriginal Land Council or other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation; or
  • a UTS Statutory Declaration form accompanied by two written references from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people from the applicant’s community who can confirm their identity and are not an immediate family member; and
• Have received an offer or enrolled in the C04374 Master of Genetic Counselling course at UTS.
• All candidates must be available to attend an online interview if required.

Selection process:

• Passion for improving the health and well-being of the NSW Indigenous population through genetic counselling
• Potential to become an effective and energetic agent for positive change in their genetic counselling career and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• Likelihood that the receipt of the scholarship will increase the Recipient’s ability to complete the UTS Master of Genetic Counselling degree at a higher level of performance than would otherwise be the case
