Novel Material Characterisation and Structural Performance Evaluation of High-Performance Composites and Joining Systems - PhD Scholarship at University of Southern Queensland 

This project aims to characterise the physical, mechanical and structural properties of the high performance pultruded and filament wound composites. This will involve laboratory testing (using coupons and large-scale samples as appropriate) and full-scale trial pile driving/testing. 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  1. The applicant must have completed an Honours Degree with First Class or 2A Honours, or equivalent level, or a Master's degree with a significant research component, and have applied to, or be currently enrolled full-time on-campus in the PhD program at UniSQ.
  2. The applicant must not be receiving equivalent support providing a benefit greater than 75% of the student’s stipend rate, and must be eligible to commence or continue a PhD program by January 2025.

Selection Criteria: The applicant must demonstrate a high level of academic achievement (e.g., class of honours or equivalent, performance in a postgraduate degree, academic prizes and awards) and research capability (e.g., research publications in high-quality journals, presentations at conferences, research internship experience, or evidence of creative works, if applicable). 

Application Process: 

  1. The applicant must provide digital copies of their Curriculum Vitae (including research presentations and/or publications), Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal, education qualifications (testamur and academic transcripts for all undergraduate and postgraduate awards), and a Supervisor Support Letter completed by their current or prospective supervisor.
  2. The application must be submitted via the UniSQ Scholarship Application Management System by the closing date.

Award: Stipend of AUD 37,000. Tuition fees for a maximum period of three years full-time equivalent study.

Deadline: 15 November 2024.

Note:

  1. Maximum period of tenure of an award is 3 years. Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree will be deducted from the period of tenure.
  2. Open for Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent residents or high-quality international students.
